A quick PS. My cholesterol is normal and I don't pee myself yet so it isn't because of the normal things we think this is. It is apparently a scent that people excrete that attract the mosquitoes.

I worked in a medical office for over 18 years. Medical magazine articles that I've read said mosquitoes are attracted to uria and cholesterol which are components of pee and fat. Unfortunately I get eaten alive by the little buggers.

Polk County sounds like DuPage County vs. Cook County Illinois....Laws, ESPECIALLY GUN LAWS are MUCH MORE SEVERE in DuPage, vs Cook. I've taken the Citizen Police ( private citizen class).... Those Officers told me that they aim to " make an example " of each criminal they imprison.. ( average sentence...??? 20 years ....!!!) savve criminals tend to avoid their bad behavior in Du Page County Illinois...😊❤

Was on a walk and saw this hairy as fuck guy ahead of me on the trail. Hair sticking through his shirt. I walk fast so caught up with him and saw some of his hairs fly off his back. 😱😱😱 So told him and asked if he wanted me to squash em. Yep! He was OK with it. So I walked with him and periodically swatted mosquitoes off him as they landed. I barely got bit. 🤷‍♀️

Don't you just love that the mosquitoes native to North Carolina love the smell of feet? Ankle biting things! Big gray things. The little black ones with white specks are Malaysian imports.

I used to take huge amounts of B vitamins... and it really helped... probably made my sweat not so yummy... but my fair skinned girl friend got bit hundreds of times but I only got bit like ten... she had to go to the hospital... side note... don't end a hike walking miles next to a swamp...as the sun sets...

But more sweat = more microbiome, so it would follow that if the microbiome on your skin is the primary factor, sweating more would mean more mosquitoes attracted

Anecdotally, it seems to work the same way with ticks. I've never been bitten one to my knowledge, even when my friend who wandered through the same brush had many on him.

Mosquitos don't bite carbon dioxide. I found it correlates to blood sugar.

I am a superb magnet while I have skeeter syndrome. But I don’t think we can control microbes on our skin without irritating the skin?

They don’t bite me at all and I live within a mile of a very large freshwater lake and I live in a wetlands area and mosquitoes can’t even be heard in my vicinity 😂 maybe someone should study this 😅😂

A high school girl did a research and proved it's how smelly your feet/socks/shoes are.

I've noticed new comers to our area get ate up but locals don't. My grandpa called it sweet bl00d. I'm gonna guess they do something to our bodies that makes us not taste good after a while...like stale food.

I grew up in Oklahoma and got eaten up by mosquitoes. Since moving to North Carolina, I have not been bitten by a single mosquito. 7 1/2 years. And I spend a lot of time at my MIL’s pool so I’m definitely in their territory.

Mosquitos love my legs more than any body part...it's much harder to scratch the itch on my legs, it's so annoying

Ironically, I have a friend who would invite me to his outdoor events because mosquitos would be attracted to me and leave everyone else alone. I wore Deet at one event and everyone else got bit. LOL

But what microbioma attract the little bloodsuckers? Is there a way to change one's microbiome to make it less appealing?
